Who are we kidding? Most coffee is better than Starbucks. Many people think Starbucks coffee has a burnt flavor. It isn’t, but it doesn’t stop it from tasting that way. While it does come down to the roast of the coffee bean, you also need to factor in the amount of coffee used.
But, Black Rock coffee has a strong, bold flavor without the burnt taste so maybe there is something to it after all. Both places offer a wide variety of hot and cold coffee drinks and many non-coffee drinks, as well.
Starbucks drinks, both hot and cold are full of sugar and other things that are not at all healthy. While it will depend on what you order, it can be an issue for any cafe that sells specialty coffees.
You can get all the different coffees you love or just a good old plain cup of black coffee to go from Black Rock.
While most specialty coffee shops are going to charge more for a cup of coffee over your local diner or fast food drive-thru, most people will mention the outrageously expensive price of Starbucks.
Of course, with the addictiveness of some of these coffees, that can really add up for someone who shouldn’t be paying that much for a cup of coffee at all. Starbucks costs a lot more than most, if not all other coffee shops of their type.
You can get a much better cup of coffee, regardless of what your favorite drink is, for much less at Black Rock. Doesn’t make sense to pay more, unless you are a loyal customer of Starbucks or don’t have a Black Rock near you. And even if you don’t have a Black Rock near you, you can order their coffee online and they offer free shipping!
Even just buying the beans is way more expensive than other beans you can buy. Sure, some beans are expensive and we all understand markup, but come on.
And while we are talking about money, what’s with all the Starbucks merch? How many mugs can one human use? Take a wander through your local thrift store someday and see how many of those personalized tumblers are gathering dust on the shelves.
You don’t need to pay that much for a Starbucks coffee press when any coffee press will do just fine. And trust us when we tell you your coffee will not taste any better out of a $40 travel mug or stainless steel tumbler.
As a customer, you want to be remembered, you want them to greet you and for the love of all things caffeinated, you want them to spell your name right.

Let’s not get started on the whole size and language thing. No, actually, let’s. Refusing to use the Starbucks lingo is seriously the only reason to go in. Should I need to learn Italian to order coffee? No.
If someone says that they are upset that Black Rock doesn’t serve food like Starbucks, get rid of them. They are not your real friend. They are not your friend because they are willing to eat sushi from a coffee shop.
Black Rock makes coffee and they do it well. That’s why you are there. Once a coffee house starts adding other things to it, it gets complicated and the quality of both the coffee and food goes way down. As the old saying goes… jack of all trades and master of none.
Why Black Rock Coffee is Better than Starbucks
Ultimately, the choice is yours. There are going to be a few diehard fans who will love Starbucks and that’s great. Let them pick up their expensive coffee and their Hootie and The Blowfish CD and let them have their day.
But time marches on and there is a new kid in town. There always will be, but today that new coffee chain kid is Black Rock. Come in, say hello, try a few coffees to find your favorite, and never look back.
