How to make sopapillas with flour tortillas

Preparation time: 5 minutes; Cooking time: 15 minutes; Total time: 20 minutes; Servings: 6

Ingredients
  

  • 6 flour tortillas street-sized
  • vegetable oil as required
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ tbsp. cinnamon powder

Instructions
 

  • Place the tortillas on a smooth working surface and cut them into quarters using a knife.
  • Pour oil into a heavy skillet over medium heat.
  • Once the oil is hot, add 4 to 6 tortilla pieces of tortillas at a time and fry until golden and puffy.
  • The flip side of the tortilla pieces and fry until the other becomes golden.
  • Once ready, remove the sopapillas from the skillet, transfer them to a plate lined with a paper towel, and let them drain.
  • In the meantime, in a bowl, add sugar and cinnamon powder, and mix well.
  • Once the sopapillas are drained, generously sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon powder mixture and serve.
