How to Make Black Frosting with Food Coloring

Preparation time: 5 minutes; Cooking time: 10 minutes; Total time: 15 minutes; Servings: 2

Ingredients
  

  • For the Frosting:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp. heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • For the Black Food Color:
  • 2 drops of blue food coloring
  • 5 drops of green food coloring
  • 6 drops of red food coloring

Instructions
 

  • Add softened butter and sugar in a standing mixer bowl, and whisk for a few minutes at low to medium speed until stiff peaks appear.
  • Add heavy cream, salt and vanilla extract, and whisk until you reach your desired consistency.
  • In a bowl mix food colors red, green and blue in the ratio as mentioned above and mix well.
  • Add drops of the prepared black food color in the frosting and gently fold. Keep on adding the food color until you get the desired shade of black.
