How to Make Tomato Soup with Tomato Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth or vegetable broth
  • 2 14.5 ounces cans diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 8 ounces can of tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions
 

  • Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the chicken or vegetable broth, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, sugar, basil leaves, salt, and black pepper to the pot. Stir well and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Stir in the milk and continue cooking until heated through.
  • Serve hot with some crusty bread on the side. Enjoy!
