How to make nacho cheese with Velveeta

Preparation time: 2 minutes; Cooking time: 8 minutes; Total time: 10 minutes; Servings: 1 cup

Ingredients

  • 4 oz. Velveeta Cheese cubed
  • 1 ½ tbsp Butter
  • 1 tbsp Flour
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ tsp hot sauce
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ¼ tsp cumin powder
  • Nachos as required
  • Chives and jalapenos for garnish

Instructions

  • In a saucepan, add butter and place it over medium heat.
  • Once the butter melts, add flour and cook for a minute or two using a wooden spoon or until you can’t smell flour. Make sure you don’t brown it.
  • Take the saucepan off the heat and pour in the milk. Stir constantly to prevent lumps from forming.
  • Place the saucepan back on medium heat and let it come to a boil. Keep stirring.
  • Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer.
  • Add garlic powder, cumin, hot sauce and cayenne pepper. Mix well. Take the saucepan off the heat and let it sit for a minute.
  • Add Velveeta cheese and constantly stir until the cheese melts completely and you get a thick mixture.
  • Pour this sauce over nachos and garnish with chopped chives and jalapenos. Enjoy!
