In a saucepan, add butter and place it over medium heat.
Once the butter melts, add flour and cook for a minute or two using a wooden spoon or until you can’t smell flour. Make sure you don’t brown it.
Take the saucepan off the heat and pour in the milk. Stir constantly to prevent lumps from forming.
Place the saucepan back on medium heat and let it come to a boil. Keep stirring.
Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer.
Add garlic powder, cumin, hot sauce and cayenne pepper. Mix well. Take the saucepan off the heat and let it sit for a minute.
Add Velveeta cheese and constantly stir until the cheese melts completely and you get a thick mixture.
Pour this sauce over nachos and garnish with chopped chives and jalapenos. Enjoy!
