How To Cook Scrapple Without It Falling Apart

Preparation time: 10 minutes; Cooking time: 10 minutes; Total time: 20 minutes; Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 4 1/4 inch-thick slabs scrapple
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tbs unsalted butter
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp paprika powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp salt

Method

  1. Pat the Scrapple dry using a kitchen towel. Using a sharp knife, slice the Scrapple into ¼ inch slices. Place the slices over a kitchen towel to remove any leftover moisture.
  2. In a shallow bowl or plate, add all-purpose flour, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix well and set it aside.
  3. Place an iron skillet or pan over medium heat and add butter. Let the butter melt away and heat up.
  4. Place the scrapple slice in the prepared dry mix so that the mixture coats it completely. Pat the scrapple slice to get rid of excess flour.
  5. Place the Scrapple in the pan and fry it for 3 minutes. Now flip the Scrapple and cook on the other side for 3 more minutes or until it gets a golden brown color.
  6. Take the Scrapple out of the pan and place it over a kitchen towel to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve with your favorite side. Enjoy!
