How to Make Tomato Soup with Tomato Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth or vegetable broth
  • 2 14.5 ounces cans diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 8 ounces can of tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup milk

Method
 

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the chicken or vegetable broth, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, sugar, basil leaves, salt, and black pepper to the pot. Stir well and bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Stir in the milk and continue cooking until heated through.
  5. Serve hot with some crusty bread on the side. Enjoy!
